Where They're Located

The yurt system is located in the Colorado State Forest State Park. A valid Parks Pass is required on each vehicle and may be purchased at the entrance station. Daily passes are $5. Annual passes may be purchased at park headquarters during business hours for $50.

The Colorado State Forest State Park is located two miles west of Gould on Colorado Highway 14, which follows the Poudre Canyon. Driving time from Fort Collins is about two hours, from Denver/Boulder about three hours. The State Forest entrance is well marked, but another landmark to watch for is the North Park KOA - both share the same entrance.

If the State Patrol closes Highway 14 over Cameron Pass, there are several alternative routes. The best from Ft. Collins is to take Hwy 287 to Laramie then Hwy 230 south to Walden, then east on Hwy 14 to the park. From Denver, go up Hwy 40 through Granby to Walden, then Hwy 14 east to the park.

The yurts are remote backcountry shelters. Inform someone at home of your whereabouts in the event of an emergency. There is little chance of getting messages to you. If there is an emergency have them contact the Jackson County Sheriff or the Colorado State Forest State Park Rangers at 970-723-8366.
